LittleOne’s score: Thumbs UP!

The Fisher Price Rainforest High Chair is one of those rare baby products that have stood the test of time (and the test of one boisterous LittleOne) from the age of 3 months to 2 years old.

The Fisher Price Rainforest High Chair was a panic buy on LittleOne’s first Christmas (which was also my first Christmas as host... to 7 people... with a three month old new baby... was I mad?! Yes I was.)

I wanted LittleOne’s first Christmas to be perfect and subsequently I wanted her to be involved in the Christmas dinner experience and not staring at the ceiling from the confinements of her Moses basket. Cue the desperate hunt for a high chair suitable from birth.

After viewing the Lula Bloom and the Rainforest High Chair, TheHusband and I decided on Fisher Price’s offerings because of its three reclines positions and padded colourful seat, allowing it to be used from birth up to 22kgs. Other features that attracted us included the sturdy tray with integrated tiger rattle toy, 7 seat height settings and removable harness straps (that can be cleaned in the dishwasher! Hurrah!)

The high chair was easy to put up, taking approximately 15 minutes. The construction itself is sturdy and strong, as is the food tray with removable insert, that was (and still is) almost impossible for LittleOne to remove and use as a food Frisbee.

LittleOne loved the Tiger rattle, especially as she could dunk it into every pot of baby mush offered in the early days (thank god it is dishwasher proof!). She also loved the bright colourful illustrations on the chair, and still enjoys naming each and every rainforest animal that beams down at us with the notable ‘fisher price smile’.

TheHusband and I loved the easy clean aspect of the Rainforest high Chair. The rattle, tray insert and harness can all be removed and thrown into the dishwasher after every meal. We did find that the harness needed an overnight dry out time, otherwise LittleOne ended up with slightly damp shoulders. Nevertheless, the easier to clean aspect kept ThisMummyReviewer more calm when it got covered in pasta sauce, pureed vegetables or in this case peanut butter:

Fast forward to the toddler years and LittleOne is still happy in the Fisher Price Rainforest High Chair, with the help of a few adaptations. We have removed the tray altogether, allowing her to eat with us at the dining table. We have also removed the top part of the harness, strapping her in only around the waist to reduce constriction.

All in all, despite the somewhat inflated price tag, the Fisher Price Rainforest High Chair is a big hit with ThisMummyReviewer and LittleOne!

Here’s our findings:

Pros:

·         Easy to put up

·         Harness strap, food insert and rattle toy are all dishwasher safe

·         Three recline settings, to accommodate new born to toddler years

·         7 height settings (perfect as many high chairs are a static height)

·         Food insert, harness and toy are all dishwasher safe

Cons:

·         Large footprint even when folded down, making it hard to store

·         Nooks and crannies in the seat store crumbs galore

·         A little pricey, but worth it in my honest opinion

(This Review is 100% unbiased and the high chair was purchased with our own money.)
